Use cases/Social launch clips

A 16:9 screen recording in a 9:16 feed is a thin grey strip.

Record the flow once. TurtleScene cuts vertical and square versions that follow each click, with the screen in a card, a step header above it and big captions burned in, so the clip makes sense with the sound off.

01The problem

Feeds are vertical and muted. Product UI is neither.

Your app is wide, full of small text and explained by a voice. Reels, Shorts and LinkedIn show it narrow, small and silent. Letterboxing leaves a sliver nobody can read, and cropping by hand means keyframing every click.

Option A
Post the landscape video as it is

Letterboxed into a phone screen, the UI is too small to read and the voiceover is muted by default. It's scrolled past in a second.

Unreadable on a phone
Option B
Have an editor reframe it

Someone keyframes a crop onto every click, adds captions and a title, then does it again for the square version. It looks right, and it's a day's work per clip.

The third way
Cuts that follow the click

The crop replays the camera the narrated video already uses, so it moves in on each step's button as it's used and eases out between steps.

  • 9:16 for Reels, Shorts, TikTok and Stories
  • 1:1 for LinkedIn and X feeds
  • A 30-second highlight in 9:16 and landscape
  • Captions burned in as big phrases, timed to the narration

Story videos in the launch film look get their own 9:16 and 1:1 cuts too, with every scene laid out again for the tall and the square frame.

Every shape the launch needs

03How it works

From one recording to shipped

  1. 01
    Render the narrated video

The cuts are made from the rendered MP4 and its timeline, so render first. Studio and Classic styles both work.

  2. 02
    Set your brand once

The cuts take their accent from your workspace's brand colour and put your product name, or the workspace name, in the step header.

  3. 03
    Generate the cuts

In the Formats tab, tick Vertical 9:16, Square 1:1 and Highlight 9:16, or leave everything ticked, and click Generate. No credit is used.

  4. 04
    Post them natively

Download each file and upload it to the platform it's shaped for. Use the thumbnail as the cover, and the landscape video with its SRT on YouTube.

04What's in it

Built for this job

01 / 03

A crop that knows where the click is

The cut replays the narrated video's own zooms, so it knows where each step's element sits in every frame. The card moves in on it, eases out to a wider view between steps and aims at whatever changes on screen.

  • The screen in a rounded card on a dark canvas
  • The video's title as a hook, then a “2/6” step header
  • Intro and outro cards left out of the full cuts

02 / 03

Captions that read on mute

Two to six words at a time, broken at natural phrase boundaries, on a dark pill inside the platform's safe area. When the step being clicked is under them, they move to the top.

  • Only words spoken in the cut are shown
  • SRT and VTT files for players that take them

Words for the post itself

A story video made from the same recording writes launch posts: a LinkedIn post, an X post under 270 characters and a short blog announcement. They stick to what's in the story and contain no links, so you choose where they point.

Need to create a LinkedIn launch post without starting from scratch?

This walkthrough shows how to build one in Canva, from choosing a template to exporting a finished PNG.

In the video, you’ll see how to:

• search for a LinkedIn Post template • open it with “customise this template” • replace the placeholder image with your own uploaded photo • use the Brand panel to apply your colour palette • add your logo directly in the editor • resize the design for other formats • export the final version from the Share menu as a PNG

Proof, not promises

The story video gets its own cuts

The animated story from the same take is laid out again for each shape: a square cut, a 9:16 cut and a 9:16 highlight, with the type re-flowed, the screen in a card that moves in on what's being shown, and big captions.

FAQ

Social launch clips: questions

Something else? Email contact@turtletechsai.com or book a working session.

Can TurtleScene post the clips for us?

No. It makes the files; you download them and post them yourself or through the scheduling tool you already use.

How long are the cuts?

The vertical and square cuts run the length of the narrated video, without its intro and outro cards. For something short, use the highlight: about 30 seconds, in 9:16 and landscape.

Do the cuts use our colours?

Yes. The accent is your workspace's brand colour and the header shows your product name, or the workspace name if you haven't set one.

What happens to the cuts if we re-render the video?

The Formats tab tells you the pack is out of date; click Generate for fresh cuts. Each generation replaces the previous pack, including formats you didn't tick, so download anything you want to keep first.

Do the cuts cost extra?

No. Every format is included with the video on every plan, and generating them again doesn't use a credit.

Can we get 9:16 cuts of a story video?

Yes, for stories in the launch film look, the look new stories from a recording are made in: each scene is laid out again for the tall frame, and there's a 9:16 highlight too. Older stories, made in the earlier look, get a square cut and a landscape highlight only.
