Make help articles and launch posts

Turn a narrated demo video into a step-by-step help article with screenshots, or a story video into LinkedIn, X and blog launch posts.

A video is only one way people learn about your product. From the same Formats tab that makes social cuts, TurtleScene can write a help article from a narrated demo video, with a screenshot for every step, and launch posts from a story video. Both are included with the video and don't use a credit.

  • Help article: for your help centre or docs, from a narrated demo video.
  • Launch posts: a LinkedIn post, an X post and a short blog announcement, from a story video.

Make a help article

The article follows your narrated video step by step. It's written from the steps and narration, and each screenshot is taken from the rendered video.

  1. Render the video first. See Render, download & share.
  2. In the left rail of the video editor, click Formats.
  3. Tick Help article. Untick the other formats if you only want the article.
  4. Click Generate. When it's done, Help article shows Ready under Latest pack.

What's in the article

  • A "How to…" title and a one- or two-sentence introduction saying what the reader will accomplish.
  • One numbered section per narrated step, in the same order as the video, each with a short imperative heading, a screenshot of that moment and one to three sentences of instructions.
  • A one-sentence wrap-up or next step.

It's written in second person and plain language, and only mentions what's in your steps and narration. You get it in two files:

  • article.md: Markdown, for help centres, docs sites and READMEs.
  • article.html: a styled page, using your workspace's brand colour for the step numbers.
Note

The article's screenshots are hosted at public addresses, so the Markdown shows them wherever you paste it. Anyone with an image's address can open it.

Tip

The article is only as good as the steps and script behind it. Fix step titles and narration first, re-render, then generate the article. See Script & voice.

Make launch posts

Launch posts come from a story video. They're written from its scenes and narration, plus the brief you gave when you created it.

  1. Open the story video from the Library. It must have finished generating.
  2. In the right-hand panel, click the Formats tab.
  3. Tick Launch posts and click Generate. When it's done, Launch posts shows Ready under Latest pack.

What's in the launch posts

You get one Markdown file, launch-posts.md, with three sections:

  • LinkedIn: 600 to 1,200 characters in short paragraphs, ending with a call to watch the video, with up to three hashtags.
  • X: under 270 characters with one clear hook and up to two hashtags.
  • Blog: a title and a 300 to 500 word announcement with ## sections and a call to action. A [VIDEO] line marks where to embed the video.

The copy sticks to what's in the story. It doesn't invent metrics, customers or features, and uses at most two emoji per post. When the story is about your own product, it also draws on the facts in your Product brain.

Tip

Before you post, replace [VIDEO] in the blog post with your video's embed, and add links. The posts don't contain any links, so you choose where they point.

Copy, open and download

Under Latest pack, the Help article and Launch posts cards have:

  • Copy Markdown: copies the whole article or all three posts to your clipboard, ready to paste.
  • Open: opens article.html in a new tab (help article only).
  • The file buttons, for example article.md: download the file. The downloaded name starts with your video's title.

Download links last for an hour. If one stops working, reopen the Formats tab.

Edit the text

The article and posts are drafts for you to finish. There's no editor for them inside TurtleScene:

  1. Click Copy Markdown, or download the file.
  2. Paste it into your help centre, CMS, LinkedIn or X, and edit it there.

To change what the AI writes from, change the source and generate again. For an article, edit the steps and script, then re-render. For launch posts, edit the story's scenes or narration. See Edit scenes & chat-to-edit.

When the video changes

If you re-render the narrated video or edit the story after generating, the Formats tab tells you the pack is out of date. Click Generate to write a fresh article or fresh posts.

Warning

Each time you generate, the new pack replaces the previous one, including any formats you didn't tick this time. Copy or download the article or posts before you generate again if you want to keep them.

If the article or posts fail, the card shows Failed with the reason. Generate again with that format ticked. If the AI can't write the article, TurtleScene falls back to an article built from your step titles and descriptions.
