Product brain

Teach TurtleScene about your product from your marketing site, and optionally give it access to map the screens inside your app.

The Product brain page is where TurtleScene learns about your product. Its main part, the Brand Brain, reads your marketing site and pulls out your product's name, positioning, features, colours, fonts and tone of voice. Story videos and launch posts are then written from what it found, so they sound like your product rather than a generic one.

The page also has two optional parts, App Access and App Map, for pointing TurtleScene at your web app itself.

To open it, click Product brain in the sidebar, under Configure. Three tiles at the top show where each part stands: Brand brain, App access and App map.

Build your Brand Brain

Plan

Brand Brain is available on Starter and up.

  1. On the Brand Brain card, enter your marketing site's address in Product website, for example https://yourproduct.com.
  2. Click Run ingest. The button shows Ingesting... while TurtleScene reads your site.
  3. When it finishes, the badge at the top of the page reads Brand brain ingested, and the results appear below.

Use your public marketing site here, not your app's sign-in page. The app's address goes under App Access.

Review what it found

The results are split in two.

What the ingest found shows the positioning your scripts draw on:

  • Value props: the main benefits your site claims.
  • Features: each feature with a short description.
  • ICPs and Use cases: who the product is for and what they use it for.
  • Crawled N pages: open it to see exactly which pages were read.

The panel on the right shows your identity: your logo, product name and description, Brand colors (Primary, Secondary and Accent), All detected colours, Fonts and Tone of voice.

If the logo is wrong or missing, click Upload logo (or Change) under it and choose a PNG, JPG, WebP or SVG file. This also updates the logo on Brand & player.

Keep it up to date

When your site changes, a new tagline, a new feature or a rebrand, click Re-ingest on the Brand Brain card. The footer shows when it was last ingested, and Last ingest failed if the most recent run didn't work.

How the Brand Brain is used

  • Story videos: the storyboard is planned with your product's name, positioning and tone, so scenes and narration describe it accurately. See Create a story video.
  • The Brand theme: when creating a story video, the Brand theme uses the colours and fonts from your Brand Brain. It stays greyed out until brand colours have been found.
  • Chat-to-edit: the AI Editor refers to your product by name.
  • Launch posts and formats: launch posts are written with your positioning, and social formats and thumbnails carry your product name. See Help articles & launch posts.
  • Brand & player: if you haven't set a workspace logo or primary colour yet, the first ingest fills them in from your site.

When a story is about a different product (for example, a how-to you recorded in someone else's tool), TurtleScene notices that the product on screen doesn't match your Brand Brain and leaves your brand out of that story and its launch posts.

Tip

If you haven't run the ingest, the story settings suggest adding your website here. You can still make story videos without one: TurtleScene then learns about the product from your recording, screenshots and brief alone.

Save app access (optional)

App Access tells TurtleScene where your web app lives and how to sign in to it.

  1. Under App Access, enter your App URL. Use the address you land on after signing in (for example https://app.yourproduct.com/dashboard), not the login page itself.
  2. Under Authentication, choose one:
    • None (public): the app needs no sign-in.
    • Session cookie: sign in to your app in your browser, open your browser's developer tools and copy the cookies under Application › Cookies. Paste them either as a name=value; name2=value2 string or as a JSON array.
    • Username & password: enter a Username / email and Password. Add a Login URL if the sign-in page is somewhere other than the App URL.
  3. Click Save access.

Credentials are encrypted at rest. The App URL is also pre-filled as App to record when you record your screen; you can change it for each recording.

Tip

Use a demo or test account rather than your own login, with sample data you're happy for TurtleScene to see.

Map your app's screens (optional)

Plan

App Map is available on Starter and up.

App Map is a signed-in crawl of your app that captures its screens.

  1. Save an App URL and access method under App Access first.
  2. On the App Map card, click Crawl app. The button shows Crawling... while it works.
  3. When it's done, each screen it found appears as a card with a screenshot, its title and its address. Click a card to see the screenshot larger.

The footer shows when the app was last crawled and how many screens were captured. Click Re-crawl after your app changes. If a crawl captures no screens, check the App URL and the access method, then try again.
