Edit scenes & chat-to-edit

Change a story video's narration, voice, visuals and scene order, either line by line or by telling the AI Editor what you want.

When a story video is ready, its page opens as an editor: the player on the left and a panel on the right with three tabs, AI Editor, Narration and Formats. You can rewrite any scene's narration on every plan. Changing the visuals, on-screen text and scene order is done by chatting with the AI Editor, on Studio and up.

Find your way around the editor

  • The player has Play, a progress bar and Mute. Each dot on the progress bar is a scene: hover to see its name, click to jump to it.
  • The header shows the title, status, number of scenes and creation date, plus Embed, Export, Share and a More actions menu (…).
  • The right-hand panel keeps both the chat and your unsaved narration edits when you switch tabs.

Select a scene

Click a scene's dot on the progress bar. The scene is then selected in both tabs:

  • In AI Editor, a chip above the message box reads Editing: Scene 3: …, and your next message applies to that scene. Click × on the chip to go back to editing the whole video.
  • In Narration, the list scrolls to that scene and outlines it.

Rewrite a narration line

  1. Open the Narration tab. Every scene is listed with its number, name and the line the narrator reads.
  2. Edit the text of a scene (up to 600 characters). Cancel and Save & regenerate audio appear.
  3. Click Save & regenerate audio. Only that scene is re-voiced, and its length adjusts to the new line.
  4. Click the play button next to the scene to hear it. The number beside it is the line's length in seconds.
Note

Editing narration changes what is spoken, not the text shown on the scene. To change on-screen text, ask the AI Editor.

Change the voice for this story

By default a story uses your workspace voice, with a delivery that follows the story's tone. To use a different voice for this one video:

  1. In the Narration tab, open Voice & tone at the bottom.
  2. Pick a Voice (click the play button beside a voice to preview it) and a Tone. Workspace default and Default keep the workspace and story settings.
  3. Click Apply to all scenes. Every scene is re-voiced, which takes a moment.

Workspace-wide voice settings and the pronunciation dictionary are covered in Voices & pronunciation.

Edit with the AI Editor

Plan

Chat-to-edit is available on Studio and up.

Tell the editor what to change in plain words, and it edits the story for you.

  1. Open the AI Editor tab.
  2. Optionally, select a scene first so the change applies only there.
  3. Type what you want into the message box, for example "Make the heading bigger" or "Change the voiceover to be more casual", and click Send. Pressing Enter sends too.
  4. Watch the player. The change appears as soon as the reply arrives, and the reply ends with a short summary of what changed.

The AI Editor can:

  • change a scene's visuals, layout and on-screen text
  • rewrite narration, and regenerate the audio for any scene whose line changed
  • add a new scene, delete a scene or reorder scenes
  • swap the image in a scene for another of the screenshots or frames the story was made from
  • restyle every scene at once, for example new colours across the whole video

The chat keeps its history, so you can refer back to earlier requests. It also knows your product's name from your Product brain.

Tip

One change per message gets better results than a long list. If a scene looks wrong, select it first so the editor doesn't touch the others.

Undo a chat edit

Every reply that changed something has an Undo button next to its summary.

  1. Find the reply whose changes you want to reverse.
  2. Click Undo. The story goes back to how it was before that reply, and the summary now starts with "Undone:".

Undo works one reply at a time. An undone reply stays in the chat, faded, so you can see what was tried.

See how the video was made

Click … › Details & inputs to open How this video was created: the video type, tone and duration you chose, your brief or context, the screenshots or frames used, and the design theme's colours, fonts and logo.

Make a new version from the same inputs

If you'd rather start again than edit, click … › Recreate video, then Start generating. TurtleScene generates a fresh video from the same brief, assets and theme. Your current video stays in the library, and the new one is saved separately with (v2) added to its title.

Delete a story video

Click … › Delete, then Delete video.

Warning

Deleting a story video can't be undone. Its scenes, voiceover audio and exports are removed, and its share link stops working. Deleting doesn't give back the credit it used.

Next: Export & share.
