Narrated demo videos

Create a narrated video

Turn a screen recording into a narrated demo video, from the create wizard to the editor, and know what the AI does along the way.

A narrated video is your real screen recording with an AI voiceover, zooms on the thing being clicked, a highlight on each step, and optional intro, outro and music. New videos use the Studio style: your recording in a window on your brand colours, a spotlight on each step, and branded title and end cards. You can switch to Classic or change any piece of it. See Choose a video style. Use a narrated video when viewers should watch the flow; use a clickable demo when they should try it themselves. You can make both from the same recording.

Start from a new recording

  1. In the sidebar, click New capture.
  2. Choose Record screen, record your flow and click Next. Record your screen covers the recorder in detail.
  3. On Choose an output, click Demo video + interactive demo.
  4. Fill in the Demo settings (see below) and click Create demo.

The footer shows what is happening: Uploading recording…, then Analyzing recording…, then Opening editor…. Stay on the page until the editor opens. The upload runs in your browser, so closing the tab before then stops it.

Tip

If you're not ready to decide what to make, click Not now — save to Recordings on the output step. The recording is kept, and the first output you make from it later is included.

Start from a recording you already made

Every recording is kept in your workspace until you delete it, so you can make a narrated video from one without recording again.

  1. In the sidebar, click New capture.
  2. Choose Use a recording you already made, pick the recording and continue.
  3. Click Demo video + interactive demo.
  4. Fill in the Demo settings and click Create demo.

You can also start from the Recordings page: find the recording and click Demo video. The wizard opens straight at the settings step.

Note

The first output made from a recording is included with it. Each further demo or story from the same recording uses one credit. In the recording picker, each recording shows Next output: included or Next output: 1 credit. See Plans, credits & limits.

Choose the demo settings

The settings steer how the AI reads your recording and how it writes the narration later.

  • Demo title. Required. For a new recording it starts as the recording's name; for a stored recording, give the video its own name.
  • Demo kind. Pick the one that matches your audience:
Kind Best for
Product demo Buyer-facing: the value story and the moments that matter.
Module demo How a feature works, with concrete clicks and outcomes. This is the default.
Storyline A narrative arc: problem, the "aha", the result.
Step-by-step workflow An imperative how-to, one action per step.
  • Context (optional). A sentence or two about what the recording shows, for example "Creating a new project: the user clicks New, names it, picks a theme and generates the first screen." The more context you give, the better the steps and narration are.

What the AI does

When you click Create demo, TurtleScene watches the recording and finds each click. Each one becomes a hotspot (a step): a point on the screen, a time in the recording, and a title and description that appear as the step card in the video. Detection also notes when each screen appeared and when the click happened, which is what lets the finished video pause at the right moment if the narration needs longer. See Steps, zooms & timing.

When analysis finishes, the editor opens on the Hotspots tab with the detected steps listed. The narration script isn't written yet. That is your next step, once you've checked the steps are right.

If analysis fails, the error appears in the wizard and nothing is created. Any credit claimed for a reused recording is given back.

Your first pass in the editor

  1. On the Hotspots tab, click through the steps and check each title and description. Fix anything the AI got wrong, or click Regenerate title & description on a step.
  2. Click Write voiceover script. The editor switches to the Script tab with one line per step. See Script & voice.
  3. Optionally, click Find waits to cut under the preview to trim loading screens. The Studio style also shortens long waits by itself when it renders. See Trim & cut waits.
  4. Click Render MP4 in the top bar. The finished video appears in Final video when it's ready, usually after 1–3 minutes. See Render, download & share.

Edits save as you go. The top bar shows Saving… and then Saved.

Find it again later

Narrated videos live in the Library. Click the Demo videos filter to see only them, then open one to return to the editor. The back arrow in the editor takes you to the same place.

A render keeps running on our servers if you leave the editor. Open the video again to see the result.

Limits to know

  • The longest recording you can make depends on your plan: 3 minutes on Free, 5 on Starter, 10 on Studio and 20 on Team.
  • Each new recording uses one AI recording from your monthly allowance: 2 on Free, 10 on Starter, 40 on Studio and 120 on Team.

Rendering, re-rendering, cuts and the clickable demo made from the same video don't use extra credits. Translated versions do: each language uses one.
