Getting started

Quickstart: your first demo

Sign up, record one flow, and get a narrated demo video and a clickable demo you can share, step by step.

This guide takes you from a new account to a shared narrated video and clickable demo, using one short recording. It takes about as long as the flow you record plus a few minutes of processing. Use a desktop browser that supports screen sharing, such as Chrome or Edge.

Create your account and workspace

  1. Go to turtlescene.xyz and click Start free, or open the sign-up page directly.
  2. Enter your Email, a Password of at least 8 characters, and a Workspace name (usually your company or product name).
  3. Click Create account. You land on your workspace's home page.

If you sign up with Continue with Google instead, you're asked to name your workspace on the next screen: enter a Workspace name and click Get started.

Note

The Free plan needs no card. It includes 2 AI recordings a month, each up to 3 minutes. See Plans, credits & limits.

Record a flow

Pick one short flow through your product, such as creating a project. Under two minutes is ideal for a first try.

  1. In the sidebar, click New capture.
  2. Click Record screen.
  3. In App to record, enter your app's web address and click Open app. Your app opens in its own window. Come back to the TurtleScene tab.
  4. Click Start recording, pick the tab or window that shows your app in your browser's sharing dialog, and confirm.
  5. Walk through the flow at a steady pace. Pause briefly on each screen before you click.
  6. Come back to TurtleScene and click Stop. A preview of the recording appears.
  7. Optionally enter a name in Name (optional), then click Next.

For details, including the microphone option and what to do if sharing doesn't start, see Record your screen.

If you already have a screen recording of the flow, click Upload a video instead of Record screen and drop the file in. MP4, WebM and MOV files up to 500 MB work, within your plan's length limit. The rest of this guide is the same.

Tip

Nothing is used from your allowance until the recording is uploaded, which happens when you click Create demo below. If the take isn't right, click Discard & re-record and try again.

Choose what to make

  1. On Choose an output, click Demo video + interactive demo.
  2. Enter a Demo title. It's required.
  3. Choose a Demo kind. Module demo is selected by default and suits most feature walkthroughs. Use Product demo for a buyer-facing pitch, or Step-by-step workflow for a how-to.
  4. Optionally add Context: one or two sentences on what the flow does. It improves the steps and narration.
  5. Click Create demo. TurtleScene uploads the recording and opens the editor, which shows Analyzing recording… while it finds your clicks.

Check the steps

When analysis finishes, the Hotspots list on the right shows one entry per detected click, with its time.

  1. Click each hotspot in the list. The video jumps to that moment.
  2. If a hotspot is in the wrong place, click the correct spot on the video to move it. Delete any you don't want with the bin icon.
  3. If a click was missed, move the playhead to it and click Add hotspot here.

See Steps, zooms & timing for everything you can change on a step.

Write the script and render the video

  1. With a hotspot selected, click Write voiceover script. The Script tab opens with one line of narration per step.
  2. Edit any line you want to change. Click the play button next to a line to hear it.
  3. Click Generate voiceover & render MP4. Rendering usually takes 1 to 3 minutes and keeps running if you leave the page.
  4. When it finishes, the editor shows MP4 ready. It's showing in Final video. Switch to Final video above the preview to watch it with narration.

If you talked through the steps while recording with the microphone on, open the Script tab and click Use what I said while recording instead of step 1. See Script & voice.

Share the video

In the editor's top bar:

  • Share link copies a link to the video's player page.
  • Open player opens that page in a new tab.
  • Download saves the MP4. On Free, downloads are up to 720p.

See Render, download & share.

Make and share the clickable demo

  1. In the editor's top bar, click Make interactive demo. TurtleScene turns each hotspot into a step and opens the clickable demo in its own editor.
  2. Click Preview to try it as a viewer would.
  3. Click Share. This publishes the demo and shows its Public link. Use the Embed tab to copy code for your website.

Making the clickable demo doesn't use another AI recording. See Share & embed.
