Narrated demo videos

Intro, outro & music

Add a title card, a call-to-action card and background music to a narrated video, and set workspace defaults for colour, logo and music.

A title card at the start tells viewers what they're about to see. A call-to-action card at the end tells them what to do next. Background music plays quietly under the narration. All three are optional, set per video on the Voice tab, and reach the finished video when you render.

Add a title card at the start

  1. In the editor's left rail, click Voice.
  2. Scroll to Intro & outro and switch on Title card at the start.
  3. Type a title. If you leave it empty, the card uses the video's title.
  4. Optionally, add a Subtitle (optional).

The title card shows for about 2.6 seconds before the walkthrough starts, or longer when the script's opening line needs it: the line is spoken over the card. The narration and step cards move back by the same amount, so they stay in sync.

Add a call-to-action card at the end

  1. On the Voice tab, under Intro & outro, switch on Call-to-action card at the end.
  2. Type a headline. If you leave it empty, the card says "Try it yourself".
  3. Optionally, fill in Button text and the address (for example yourproduct.com).

The card shows for about 3.6 seconds after the walkthrough, or longer when the script's closing line needs it. The button text appears as a button shape, with the address printed underneath.

Note

The finished MP4 is a video, so the button and address on the card can't be clicked. Use an address that's short and easy to type. For a clickable call to action, share a clickable demo as well.

Changes save as you type ("Saved. Render the video again to see it.").

Cards in the Studio style

With the Studio video style and its Title and end cards switch on, a video whose intro and outro you haven't set gets both cards, and Intro & outro shows them switched on. The Studio title card puts the title on a card beside a frame of your recording; the end card shows your product's website (or name) with your headline under it. They use the Studio colours shown under Video style. Switch either card off here, or change its text, and the video keeps your choice.

In the Classic style, the intro and outro cards use your workspace branding, not settings on the video:

  • Background: the workspace Primary colour. The text turns black or white, whichever reads better on that colour.
  • Logo: the workspace logo, at the top of the card. With no logo set, the workspace name appears there instead.

To change them, click Brand & player in the sidebar, update Logo or Primary colour, and click Save branding. Then re-render the video. See Brand & player.

Add background music

  1. On the Voice tab, scroll to Music.
  2. Click the play button next to a built-in track to preview it, then click its name to choose it. Choosing a track switches Background music on.
  3. Drag Volume to set how loud the music sits under the narration.

The built-in tracks:

Track Mood
Calm Slow, soft pads. Tutorials and onboarding.
Warm Mellow and low. Customer stories, walkthroughs.
Bright Lighter, gentle pulse. Launches and feature reveals.
Focus Steady pulse. Product demos and how-tos.

Built-in tracks are original and free to use anywhere.

Tip

Keep the volume low, around 10–20%, so the narration stays clear. The default is 15%.

Music plays across the whole video, including the intro and outro cards, and fades in and out.

With the Studio video style, a video with no music picked and no workspace default plays Quiet music: the Calm track, soft, and lower still while the voice speaks. It's on for new narrated videos. Switch it off under Video style on the Voice tab, or pick a track here, which always wins.

Upload your own track

  1. On the Voice tab, under Music, click Or upload your own (MP3).
  2. Choose an audio file under 15 MB. MP3 works best.

The track appears with its file name. Click Replace to swap it, or the bin icon to remove it. Only upload music you have the rights to use.

Switch music off for one video

Switch off Background music on the Voice tab. The next render has no music.

If the video is still using the workspace default, the switch can't be turned off yet because no track is chosen on the video. Choose any built-in track first, then switch Background music off.

Set default music for the workspace

A workspace default saves you choosing a track for every video.

  1. In the sidebar, click Brand & player.
  2. Under Sound, set Default background music: pick a built-in track or upload one, and set the volume.
  3. Click Save branding.

A video uses the workspace default until you change music on that video. The Music section says "Uses the workspace default track, if one is set" while that's the case. Once you pick a track, upload one or switch music off on a video, that video keeps its own setting, even if you change the workspace default later.

Apply your changes

Intro, outro and music changes all apply on the next render. Click Re-render in the top bar, then check the result in the Final video tab. See Render, download & share.

Translated versions get the same cards with the title, subtitle, headline and button text translated. The address stays as you typed it.
