Clickable demos

Capture leads and password-protect a demo

Ask viewers for their details before or after a clickable demo, download the leads, send them onward, or lock a demo with a password.

A clickable demo can do more than show your product. A lead form asks viewers for their name, email or company before they start or when they finish, so a demo on your website brings you contacts. A password keeps a demo private to the people you give it to, such as a prospect or a beta group.

Plan

Lead forms are available on Studio and up. Password protection is available on Starter and up.

Add a lead form

  1. Open the demo in the editor.
  2. In the toolbar, click Settings. The Demo Settings window opens.
  3. Open the Lead Form tab and tick Collect lead information.
  4. Choose when the form appears: Before demo or After demo.
  5. Enter a Form title and a Description. Without a title, the form says "Before you continue".
  6. Click + Add field for each thing you want to ask. Each new field starts as a required Email field.
  7. Rename each field's label and set its type: Text, Email, Phone or Company. Click the bin icon to remove one.
  8. Click Done.

The form applies to the share link and every embed as soon as the demo is public.

Before or after?

  • Before demo gates the whole demo: viewers see the form first and can't start until they submit it. Use it when the demo is the reward, for example on a landing page.
  • After demo shows the form when viewers reach the end. More people see the whole demo, and those who fill in the form have already seen it.

Every field you add is required, so ask only for what you need. Short forms get more replies.

Note

Exported videos and PDFs skip the lead form.

See your leads

Leads are stored with the demo. To download them:

  1. Open the demo in the editor.
  2. Click Personalize in the toolbar and open the Integrations tab.
  3. Under Lead submissions, click Download CSV.

The file has one row per submission, newest first, with the time it was sent and one column per field label. Only members of your workspace can download it.

If you share translated versions of the demo, the form's labels are translated for viewers, but the leads you download keep the field labels you wrote. All submissions land in the same columns whatever language the viewer used.

Send leads to Slack, HubSpot or a webhook

Each new submission can be sent onward as soon as it arrives. Set this up on the same Integrations tab:

  • Slack incoming webhook: posts a message with the demo's name and the viewer's answers to a Slack channel.
  • HubSpot Forms: submits the answers to a HubSpot form, using your Portal ID and Form ID.
  • Generic webhook: sends the answers as JSON to any address you enter, for tools such as Zapier or your own backend.

See Slack, HubSpot & webhooks for step-by-step setup and how fields map to HubSpot.

Plan

Sending leads to Slack, HubSpot and webhooks is available on Studio and up.

Password-protect a demo

  1. Open the demo in the editor.
  2. In the toolbar, click Settings and open the Password tab.
  3. Type a password. Leave it empty to turn protection off.
  4. Click Done.

You can also set it under Personalize › Share › Password protect.

Viewers who open the link or an embed see "Your demo's title is password protected" and a password box. After they click Unlock with the right password, the demo stays unlocked in that browser. A wrong password shows Incorrect password.

  • The password is checked on our servers. It's never sent to the viewer's browser, and the demo's screens aren't loaded until it's unlocked.
  • Workspace members can see the password in the editor, so treat it as a shared passphrase, not a personal one.
  • The demo still has to be public for anyone to reach it. A password adds a second lock on top of the link.
  • Exports skip the password, so you can still export a protected demo.

Use a password and a lead form together

You can turn on both. Viewers unlock the demo first, then see the lead form if it's set to Before demo. This suits a demo sent to one prospect where you still want to know who at the company opened it.

If your plan changes

  • If a workspace drops below Studio, lead forms stop showing on its demos and new submissions aren't accepted. Leads you already collected stay available to download.
  • If a workspace moves to Free while a demo has a password, the demo isn't shown to viewers at all: they see "This demo isn't available" until you remove the password or upgrade. It's never shown without its password. The Password tab shows Remove the password so you can take it off.
