Translated versions
Make a narrated video in up to 14 other languages, with translated narration, step cards, intro, outro and captions, and download each version.
A translated version is the same narrated video with the narration, step cards, intro and outro and captions in another language. The screen itself stays as recorded. Use translations to give customers a walkthrough in their own language without recording again or writing a new script.
Translated versions are available on Starter and up.
What gets translated
- Narration: every script line, spoken by the same AI voice in the new language.
- Step cards: each step's title and description.
- Intro and outro cards: the title and subtitle, the headline and the button text. The address on the outro card stays as you typed it.
- Captions: a subtitle file (SRT) in the new language.
The recording itself isn't changed, so any text in your app's screens stays in its original language.
Pauses are worked out again for each language. A line that runs longer in German than in English gets a longer pause before its click, so the narration still matches the screen. See Steps, zooms & timing.
Languages
Spanish, French, German, Portuguese, Italian, Dutch, Polish, Turkish, Indonesian, Hindi, Japanese, Korean, Chinese (Simplified) and Arabic.
What it costs
Each language uses one AI recording from your monthly allowance, the same as a new recording. That's because the whole video is re-voiced and re-rendered. The editor says so above the language picker before you start.
If a translation fails, its credit is given back. Redoing a language uses a credit again. See Plans, credits & limits.
Translate a video
Render the video in its original language first. The language picker stays unavailable until you do, and shows "Render the video first."
- In the editor's left rail, click Formats.
- Under Languages, open Add a language… and choose a language.
- Click Translate.
The language appears in the list with Translating & rendering…. It runs on our servers, so you can keep working or leave the page. When it's done, the status changes to Ready.
You can start several languages. Each one appears in its own row and uses its own credit.
Watch and download a version
When a language shows Ready, its row has a video player so you can watch it in the editor. Under the player:
- MP4 downloads the translated video.
- Captions (SRT) downloads its subtitle file.
The translated video is a separate file. Your original video, its steps and its share link don't change.
Share link and Open player in the top bar always play the original video. To share a translated version, download its MP4 and share or upload that file.
Download links for translated versions stop working after about seven days. Reopen the Formats tab to get fresh ones.
Update a translation after editing
A translated version is made from the script, steps and settings at the time you translated it. It doesn't change when you edit the original.
To bring a language up to date after editing the script, steps, cuts, intro, outro or music, click the redo icon in its row ("Redo from the current script"). This translates and renders it again, and uses another credit.
A version translated before the script had its opening, closing and in-between lines (see Script & voice) keeps those parts silent rather than speaking them in the original language, until you redo it.
Finish editing and re-render the original before you translate. That way each language is done once.
Remove a version
Click the bin icon in the language's row. The translated video is removed from the list, and the language becomes available in the picker again. Removing a version doesn't give its credit back.
If a translation fails
The row shows Failed with the reason underneath, and the credit is given back. Click the redo icon to try again. If the error mentions your plan or allowance, see Plans, credits & limits.
